Working near DENSO robots safely is possible thanks to the Safety Motion function of the RC8A robot controller. This function enables users to define virtual fences around the work environment and thus regulate the robot’s activity when a person enters into predefined safety zones.
The Safety Motion function is a cutting-edge tool for maximizing industrial robot safety and is offered as an with the RC8A robot controller. Optical sensors are employed to dynamically control robot speed in relation to the distance of approaching individuals, making working environments with robots safer for humans. The sensors — one placed at the bottom and one at the top of the automation cell — generate virtual safe zones. Zones A and B are farthest from the robot and Zone C is closest. Entry into Zones A or B triggers speed reductions, while entry into Zone C stops the robot entirely.
The system uses optical sensors to dynamically control robot speed in relation to the distance of approaching individuals.
Operation-area Monitoring (Zone A)
  • Limits robot operation area to personnel working area.
  • Personnel and robot can both approach common operation area.
Speed Monitoring (Zone B)
  • Limits robot operation speed to safe level when sensor detects personnel entering a specified area.
Stop Monitoring (Zone C)
  • Stops robot motion when personnel are detected.
  • Returns robot to operation immediate after personnel leave.

What will I see at the roadshow?

HS-A1 Series

The HS-A1 Series compact, four-axis SCARA robots offer the highest speed and repeatability in their class. Although these small industrial robots have a compact, space-saving design, they have a large load-handling capability, with a maximum payload of 5 kg. In addition, their large, 0.1 kgm2 maximum allowable moment of inertia enables a wide range of end effectors and applications. All HS-A1 Series robots are available in dust- and mistproof (IP65) or ISO 4 (class 10) cleanroom configurations. ANSI and CE compliance allows global deployment. UL-listed models are available for both the U.S. and Canada.

VP Series

The ultracompact VP Series five- and six-axis articulated robots offer the highest speed and repeatability in their class. Their small footprint of only 160 x 160 mm (200 mm dia. for the aseptic models) saves valuable facility space and makes integration easy, yet despite their size, they have a large payload capacity. In addition, their highly efficient motors use a maximum of only 80 W of power each, and all motors combined use a maximum of only 300 W, resulting in significant energy savings. The VP Series robots are ANSI/CE compliant and UL-listed (aseptic models), making them suitable for global deployment.
